Holly Shores History

Maggy and DaveForty years ago, the future of farming in Cape May County was beginning to look bleak.

Many of the farmers at the time were trying to figure out what would happen to their livelihood and their lands. At about the same time, recreational campers were beginning to make a hold in the hearts of Middle America. These new camping enthusiasts needed safe and affordable campgrounds to take their families. Cape May County with its beautiful flora, fauna, beaches and oceans was the perfect place.

Fortunately, for the farmers, there was a bright Agricultural agent working for the government who saw the future. He met with many of the farmers and suggested they turn their land over to camping. Thus began the largest construction of new campgrounds in the history of Cape May County, including Holly Shores.

Holly Shores opened its doors in the early 1970s. In 1999 the founding family sold the park to its present owners, Dave and Maggy Robinson. Since that time the Robinsons have focused on improving all the facilities and amenities of the campground. Holly Shores is now rated 5 Star by Woodall’s Camping Directory and recently was honored as the National 2009-2010 Park of the Year by the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds in Orlando, Florida. Other awards include "Best Campground 2010" by CapeMay.com and "Best Family Oriented Campground" by Frommer's Guide to Camping.

We welcome you and your family to come and enjoy your next camping holiday at Holly Shores; nestled on 35 acres of Holly Trees, Oaks, and Maples you think you are camping in a lush forest!
